Reynaldo Francisco, Jr. gathered his interest to paint during his travels abroad. As a young man, he was fascinated by the masters and paintings he saw in museums and galleries. He loved Claude Monet, an impressionist painter at the turn of the century France.
He remembered Monet intensely - his series of water lily paintings, the Rouen Cathedral and the impressive wheat fields painted repetitively at different parts of day, at sunrise, at midday, at sundown.
Francisco traveled to Europe, Asia, Africa, USA and the Middle East as a musician, and in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as a teacher, an opportunity he could not forget. He took the opportunity to visit galleries and pay homage to the masters.
His paintings are deeply influenced by the textured pieces of his favorite artists. Aside from Monet, he likes the work of Filipino masters Fernando Amorsolo and Federico Aguilar-Alcuaz. He met the latter at Manila Hotel in 1986 and he was very much impressed. Their work and style of painting stayed on his mind and canvas.
Francisco's paintings were bought by his friends, art collectors and clients from Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol, Mindoro, and Mindanao. He could also trace his works in California, Singapore, and the Middle East.
He has been sharing his God-given talents to his students in Rizal, Metro Manila, and Saudi Arabia.
Aside from being a busy visual artist, he is also a musician and plays beautiful Filipino music to friends on special occasions, particularly for friend artists on their art exhibit openings. He just concluded a successful Two-Man Art Exhibit, “Duumvirate’s Journey” with colleague artist Patrick Esmao at The Art Gallery of the Philippine Heart Center.
